- The Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay has lived up to every billing as a work horse1. He pitched deep into the game again (8 innings, 5 hits, 9 K’s and no runs) and recorded his first victory since July 5th.
- From one work horse to another, the White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle also had quite a performance. He pitched a complete game 5 hitter2 only allowing 1 run to record his very first victory in Oakland.
- The Diamondbacks Kelly Johnson recorded the 3rd cycle of the year3 in the Major Leagues. Despite his efforts, the Giants were able to stay red hot and win 7-4.

- Atlanta’s Billy Wagner came in and closed the door on the Tigers and recorded his 400th career saves2.
- Phillies Roy Halladay faced his former Blue Jays team and threw 7 scoreless innings3. The win was the Phillies 4th in a row.

- The Houston Astro’s Carlos Lee has been getting into the swing of things lately. After yesterdays game winning hit, he decided to have a repeat performance. This time he hit a 2 out grand slam1 in the 10th inning to put the ‘Stros up 6-2 over Colorado.
- Gerardo Parra of the Diamondbacks, took advantage of the miscommunication between the Braves outfielders Nate McLouth and Jason Heyward and was able to record an inside the park home run2.
- The Indains Justin Masterson may have had a tough season but he came out with his best stuff against his former team, the Boston Red Sox. He gave up no runs and 2 hits in a 9 inning shutout performance3.
