Ahead of the “Curve”

The New York Yankees C. C. Sabathia and The Atlanta Braves Jair Jurrjens became the first pitcher’s to reach 10 wins in the American (Yankees) and National (Braves) Leagues. Jurrjens was able to get plenty of run support in his victory as the Braves plated 10 runners against the San Diego Padres. Jurrjens took care of the rest as he threw 6 innings of 3 hit ball and allowed just 1 runner. For C. C Sabathia the story was more of the same as the Yankees jumped out to a 5 run lead after 3 innings against the Colorado Rockies. With Sabathia on the hill, that would be more than enough run support as he pitched 8 innings giving up only 1 run and striking out 9 batters.

The San Francisco Giants took advantage of another Braves error in the 7th inning to stage yet another comeback. The Giants scored on a Cody Ross home run in that 7th inning and the bullpen did the rest. The game was also Bobby Cox’s last, as he heads into retirement now that the Braves season is over:

Seperating The Men From The Boys

by bren on October 5th, 2010 | No Comments »

Its the postseason and like the title says this is what separates the men from the boys. I can not wait to watch some of the match ups for this year even though the Red Sox didn’t make the playoffs. We have a Reds team that hasn’t been to the playoffs in 15 years and also a Rays team who was become a force to be reckoned with the past few years. There are many questions out there like will the Twins finally get past the Yankees? It might be unlikely since their big bat in Morneau is out for the series but that will be interesting to watch. The only way to really know what happens is to watch. So i’ll see you on the couch as we enjoy these MLB playoffs.
