Happy Fathers Day

Just wanted to say Happy Father’s Day to those coaches, parents and volunteers that help make sports programs run throughout their cities and towns. Without them the games would not be as much fun or even come close to be being as enjoyable. I mean who doesn’t choke up when watching Field of Dreams and he plays catch with his father at the end:

Winning Can Cloud Overall Judgement

This weekend my team played against a team that was not in our league. Great, I was thinking of having many of the players who sit the bench get out there and show us what they have. As an assistant coach I can only come up with these ideas as suggestions and “talk the coach” into seeing them through. The head coach was really more interested in winning, so we could get back to .500 baseball. That is all well and good but I would have rather seen what the other kids could do for us down the road.

Twins Right On Target At Home

  • The Minnesota Twins won their home opener1 in the new Target Outdoor Field.
  • Andrew Jones’ 2 home runs2 moved him into a tie with Craig Nettles on the All-Time3 list at No. 50 with 390 for his career.
  • St. Louis Cardinals enjoyed a shut out victory4 in their home opener as Adam Wainwright went 8 scoreless. Albert Pujols homered and drove in 4 to give Wainwright all the support he would need.
