The Philadelphia Phillies kicked off their World Series trophy tour Monday January 11th1. There last World Series victory came in 1980 when they “defeated the Kansas City Royals in 6 games.2”
Philadelphia was able to secure some major bullpen woes when they acquired Brad Lidge, the once formidable closer, this past season. Lidge returned to his solid form this past season and closed out Game 5 for the World Series victory.
As a Red Sox fan, I think I said “there’s always next year” for only a couple decades out of the eight. No fan should have to endure decades without celebrating their team as champions. Congratulations to the city of Philadelphia and all of your fans. Let’s see what the Eagles can do for you as well
