The United National Gridiron League UNGL, is set to kick off February 8th of this year. For many years, players who were not selected during the NFL’s draft would have to find teams in the Canadian Football League, Arena Football League, or NFL Europa even to continue playing. There is nothing wrong with playing in these leagues. The other leagues are just as fun and entertaining to watch. The CFL and NFL have even separated themselves from the NFL because of their rules1, which change the style of play. What they do lack, is publicity and also quality of players due to the publicity. Now with the NFL closing its Europa league,2 there could be a pool of talented players who may not get the time to develop that they need.
The UNGL hopes they can pull from the pool of talented players who were not chosen in previous drafts. Their mission is simple; give college athletes a place to play after college who do not get drafted3. In doing so, they may even help a few of them develop into the player they need to be to make an NFL roster.
