The Florida Marlins have agreed upon building a new retractable-roof stadium that will be done for the 2012 season¹. This helps to address a main concern in Florida, weather. It is pooring one day, some of the most serious rain showers I have ever seen, or it is extremely hot. In either case, fans of the team would rather not bother going to a game in either of the conditions.

With the change of venue also will come a change in the name. When the stadium opens in 2012, the team will be known as the Miami Marlins².
