- The Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay has lived up to every billing as a work horse1. He pitched deep into the game again (8 innings, 5 hits, 9 K’s and no runs) and recorded his first victory since July 5th.
- From one work horse to another, the White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle also had quite a performance. He pitched a complete game 5 hitter2 only allowing 1 run to record his very first victory in Oakland.
- The Diamondbacks Kelly Johnson recorded the 3rd cycle of the year3 in the Major Leagues. Despite his efforts, the Giants were able to stay red hot and win 7-4.

- The Yankees Alex Rodriquez hit No. 599 last night1 and looks to join one the 600 home run club very soon. Could be the next pitch he sees actually.
- The Gaints’ starter Matt Cain2 pitched much better than his 7-8 record going into the night. He was able to put the ball wherever he wanted and kept the hitters off balance all night long. He threw 8 innings of 3 hit ball and struck out 9.
- The Twins Carl Pavano earned his 7th straight victory3 as he pitched a complete game giving up 5 hits and no runs.

- The Mariners finally broke out of their scoreless funk1 in the bottom of the 11th against Bobby Jenks. The Mariners scored 2 runs on a single by Franklin Gutierrez. Felix Hernandez also pitched outstanding, giving up 2 hits in 8 innings.
