Round 1 Kicks Off For The NBA Playoffs

LeBron James lead the way for the Cavaliers, what else is new, by scoring 24 pts and Cleveland takes game 1 over Chicago. The Atlanta Hawks used a total team effort with all 5 starters scoring in double figures in the game 1 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics and Heat had an old fashioned brouhaha and the Celtics would come out on top to gain the early advantage in the series. Carmelo Anthony lead Denver over the Jazz with a playoff high 42 points and the Nuggets lead 1-0 in the series.

Indians Put Win On Their Talb

Here’s The Rundown:

  • The Indians Mitch Talbot received his first career win by doing all the work himself. Talbot threw a complete game1 giving up 6 hits and 1 earned run.
  • Roy Halladay settled into Citizen’s Bank Park2 rather nicely as he pitched 8 innings giving up 2 runs and that was enough for Philadelphia who defeated Florida 8-6. Florida’s Jorge Cantu’s streak came to an end at 10 games with a hit and RBI in each game.
  • St. Louis received a heavenly gift in the 7th inning as Felipe Lopez hit a grand slam3 and put the Cardinals on top of the Mets for good.

Marlin’s Cantu Makes History

  • The Cubs rallied in the 8th1 inning against the visiting Brewers with two singles by Kosuke Fukudome and Ryan Theriot.
  • St. Louis was victorious in the pitcher’s duel between Brad Penny (1 unearned run through 7) and Houston’s Brett Myers. The Cardinals winning run2 came off the bat of who else but Albert Pujols.
  • Jorge Cantu has put himself in the record books. His homerun made him the first player in MLB history3 to have one  hit and RBI in his team’s first 9 regular season games.
