Dirk’s Efficiency Steals OKC’s Thunder

by bren on May 18th, 2011 | No Comments »

Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks was incredible to say the least last night. He set a record for consecutive free throws without a miss by going 24-24 from the line. The fact that he was able to get 24 foul shots is another thing, the man simply could not be stopped. He wound up going 12-15 from the field and finished with 48 points, which is 2 points shy of his playoff high. Dirk also played a little defense and racked up 4 blocks in the 121-112 game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. An honorable mention goes to Kevin Durant who did all that he could to battle back against the Mavericks as he scored 40 points on the night:

Lately, you can not count the Boston Red Sox out of any game. Even on the gloomiest of nights due to the weather, the Red Sox bats were able to shine bright (yikes, its bad I know). The BoSox made a run in the bottom of the 5th down 6 runs and would eventually go on to win 8-7 over the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox capped off their rally when the red hot Adrain Gonzalez stepped up to the plate in the 9th inning and hit a wall ball that would plate the winning run.

Bulls Run Over Heat

The Chicago Bulls did what most people expected them to do last night, take care of the Miami Heat in Game 1. Luol Deng came up huge for the Bulls, scoring 21 points and most importantly held LeBron James in check with 15 points. The Heat stayed close until midway through the 3rd quarter.  The Bulls reeled off 10 straight points and would never look back defeating the Heat 103-82:
