This past weekend started up what will surely be an interesting match up between these two teams. They have 6 more games against each other after today’s game and Boston is 5 games behind the Yankees who are in first place.
I do not know how the people who schedule games do it but I think they figure to leave these games for the last of the season. Reason being, the A.L East title most likely comes down to these two teams battling for it (other than the new Rays powerhouse).
Being a Boston fan you can become spoiled with it a bit. Your team for the past decade has put out a competitive team each and every year and you expect nothing but the best from them. It seems as though with all the games played between these two teams it gets dulled down so much. I think that with the amount of games in the short amount of time they play each other, it is somewhat unfair to the players. I mean how many times can you play someone each year before they pick up on every little thing you do as a player. I think giving them less games against each other increases the intensity and importance of the games.
The networks are just looking for drama as well as MLB and want to put these clubs together as much as possible because of the ratings. I think it ends up making things a bit watered down and less intense.
