The MLB’s trade deadline has come and gone so after all the ink who really won out this year?
Well what a relief that is or should I say a performance that needed no relief:
When you seem to get no hit every time someone throws a perfect game or a no hitter this is quite a change of pace for the Rays franchise. As much as I would like to see them loose every night so the Red Sox can at least get into the playoff this year, ain’t happening folks. It is nice to see them get one for themselves. In the past years they have made it to the World Series and have kept themselves atop the super competitive American League East. So here’s one for respectability.
Earlier this morning George Steinbrenner passed away at the age of 80. Now as a Red Sox fan you can imagine my thoughts about the man. Really though, he was a great competitor, he gave his fans as well as many other fans something to cheer for. He wanted nothing but the best from his players and organization. Some may say that his tactics may not have been the best but he has made the Yankees into the team they are today. I believe that without him, the Yankees and Red Sox games of recent years would not have been as intense as they have been.
He was a great competitor and like I said, without him the Red Sox would not have had to field an exceptional team every year. We know every year it is between the Red Sox and Yankees for the American League East Crown and sometimes for a trip to the World Series.
With NBA’s free agency upon us in a few hours the talk has been centered around, you guess it, Lebron James. Rightfully so, adding him to your team will make you a contender instantly. He is one of the most consistent players in the NBA and has show he is capable of having an MVP season every year.
My beef has to deal with why is everything focused upon what he will do? I understand teams are talking sign and trade but it shouldn’t take teams to long to figure out if they even have a shot at this guy. Pretty sure the biggest issue is who can afford to pay him what he wants and that narrows it down even further (Knicks, Bulls, Heat, Nets). We will have to wait and see how this all unfolds and who goes where within the coming weeks.
