With the NFL changing their current stance on players who “launch” themselves into another player, I think it is a good time to talk about the topic. The nature of Football is very violent as we can all see every Sunday. I think what the NFL is doing is good because to many players are getting seriously hurt with this new found way of tackling. The problem still remains that players will want to establish themselves as big time hitters so other players will hesitate when catching a ball. I think that the game will not change until the mentality of the game changes. The coaches and players all reference this as being a war many times in press conference interviews. That is the problem, it is thought of as a war between men. In reality it is just a game folks. Telling someone the proper way to do things and not having them mertalize the other player in the process. I think the same goal of playing the game can be accomplished with a different attitude and that is the only time when these hits will stop.
