One thing I have noticed about the opening round of the Baseball Playoffs, is how much one base hit, diving catch, or error can effect the outcome of a game. You may hear players say that the post season is a completely different animal than the regular season. In fact one man you all may know, Reggie Jackson better known as Mr. October, told me “I loved this time of year. I just ate it up.”
This past Sunday, there was a lot of sporting events going on in New England area. For one, the Red Sox1 were finishing off the regular season with a game against the Cleveland Indians. The New England Revolution2 got into the action with a game against the Colorado Rapids. Finally you had the New England Patriots taking on the Baltimore Ravens.3
With all these events going on it is easy to see how things can be lost in the shuffle. Even with 40 thousand people gathering in Boston to raise awareness about Breast Cancer, it seems to have been mentioned then forgotten. Well I am putting it back out there. This is one area for Women and Men as well that does get overlooked throughout the course of a year. Being able to go to the doctor for your checkup can seem like a hassle, but it can save your life. Anything you can do for yourself in order to increase your life should never feel like a hassle. Take the time to listen to your body’s needs and you will feel 100% better each day. Here is an overview of the event and some links to show you what others are doing to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.
Boston Strides for Breast Cancer4
Even the NFL has helped by sharing links on its website5 to receive screenings and the players can be seen wearing pink gloves/cleats during the games6.
Yes that is right ladies and gentlemen, October is upon us. This upcoming weekend marks the end of the regular season and the start of the Baseball playoffs. The race for a pennant1 or wild card2 is somewhat done at this point.
The closest race we have at this point is in the A.L Central. Those beloved Twinkies, Minnesota Twins, are 2.0 games behind the Detroit Tigers with a 4 game series3 starting tomorrow. The closest race other than that is between the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies with the Rockies ahead by 2.5 games. With each team done meeting for the season, the Braves will have to win out to really solidify their chances of making it into the playoffs.
That is all it is really about, making the playoffs. When your in, it is a completely different ball game. Win or go home.
My apologies for the lateness of the blog but flu season is upon us and I happened to catch it head on. There are more important matters at hand other than my personal health. This past Sunday’s event for little Elizabeth Taylor Kulikowski is a good example of that. Little Elizabeth was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and was given 6 months to live November of last year.
Unfortunately Elizabeth was not able to make a full recovery from this devastating disease. The fundraiser this past Sunday served a duel purpose. One, to help the parents with the payments from the very expensive treatments their daughter had to go through. Secondly, to celebrate the memory of brave little Elizabeth.
I had this idea a while ago, I’ll make some tee shirts and sell them outside of Fenway. Well that was unable to happen for some time as I have devoted more time to doing a little bit of everything for the website. The website is finally at a place where I can say “this is the idea I had in mind when I first started.”
Now that the website is set for now, it was time to start getting the word out. Now I can sell some shirts, create some buzz, and see how the website grows.
I went to Timeout Sportswear in Whitman, MA placed my order and this past week the Tee shirts arrived.
When I first got them, I was pretty proud of myself. To think of an idea/concept is one thing but when you end up seeing your idea on a shirt like you had envisioned. There are few things like it in life.
The next step was to use the hawking license and manifest more of my ideas. It all starts with an idea and you may imagine where that idea can take you. Unless you really put the idea into action, you will never know what may happen for sure. So I packed a suitcase with all the Tee shirts and set out for Boston so I could catch the crowd before they entered Fenway Park for the Red Sox game this past Friday night.
