This past Friday, as I have for the past three years, I golfed with my father in the Closed Open Golf Tournament at Pinehills with the proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund. The tournament was previously held at the Hyannis Golf Course in Cape Cod.
This tournament has meant a lot to myself as I get the chance to golf with my dad, see the relatives, and also meet some new people each year. Of course we go to make an attempt at the leader board, but we always end up having a great time while loosing track of our score, oops. We may not make the top 5, but its not even about our score. It’s about supporting a foundation that has helped so many over the years, a foundation that could have also help treat my uncle before he passed from cancer.
With 24 years and counting, the good times just keep rolling. It is great to see my family contribute to such a great cause in a huge way. I am looking forward to next year as the tournament turns a quarter of a century old, 25 amazing years. I’ll keep on saying to myself as well this year is the year we will don those suit coats, but this is also the year a youngster gains the help he/she needs in battling the odds. With the Jimmy Fund’s help, those odds seem more more in a patients favor than ever before.
